Why people have donated more to the Philippines than Syria - Truthloader

In the six months since Typhoon Haiyan hit the Philippines, killing as many as 8,000 people and leaving millions more homeless, the British public has donated £90 million to the Disasters Emergency Committee for the relief and recovery effort. But in over twice the length of time just £23 million has been collected for the crisis in Syria. This is despite the fact that at least 50,000 civilians have been killed in the Syrian conflict, and more than 9 million people displaced. Brendan Paddy from the DEC explains why he thinks people have been more willing to donate to the Philippines disaster than to Syria.
